Space is limited. Members are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

All Programs operate out of the Camrose Boys and Girls Club (Recreation Centre, Second Floor,  Meeting Rooms 2 & 3).

Kid Connect

KID CONNECT is a social club that promotes healthy connections with self, others and the community.

  • Serves grades 1 to 5
  • Program fee is $10 per month
  • Runs one day per week, October through May
  • Kid Connect members join one of the following cohort groups for the duration of our program year:

o    Kid Connect Tuesday Cohort – 3:00 to 6:00 pm

o    Kid Connect Wednesday Cohort – 3:00 to 6:00 pm

o    Kid Connect Thursday Cohort – 3:00 to 6:00 pm (2:00 to 6:00 pm on early dismissal)

  • Space is limited to 20 participants in each cohort
  • Offers a variety of social, recreational, educational and leadership activities (based on availability) such as:

o    non-competitive sports, swimming, skating, tobogganing, bowling, ping pong, etc.

o    cooking, baking

o    arts, crafts, science projects

o    board games, air hockey, foosball

o    nutrition, environmental, leadership, relationship, personal growth & safety activities and exercises

o    random acts of kindness, community connections, fundraising activities

o    and MORE

  • Also offers daily snack, homework help, conflict resolution support and complimentary transportation from school to Club
  • Monthly activity calendar / newsletter provided

Torch Club

TORCH CLUB promotes the development of mentorship abilities, leadership skills, personal growth and community connection.

  • Serves grades 6 to 8
  • No program fee
  • Runs Wednesdays, October through May from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
  • Space is limited to 20 participants
  • Offers a variety of fun and engaging educational, leadership and recreational activities
  • Activity calendar / newsletter provided monthly
  • Supper provided (unless otherwise specified in newsletter)

Keystone

KEYSTONE is a national leadership development program that provides youth with the knowledge and skills to make positive choices in their lives and make a difference in their Clubs and communities. Throughout the course of the year, Keystone members participate in activities that focus on five core areas:

Leadership, Teamwork, Healthy Choices, Service to Club and Community, and Learning for Life.

  • Serves grades 9 to 12
  • No program fee
  • Runs Mondays, October through May from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
  • Space is limited to 20 participants
  • Offers a variety of fun and engaging educational, leadership and recreational activities
  • Activity calendar / newsletter provided monthly
  • Supper provided (unless otherwise specified in newsletter)

Homework Help

HOMEWORK HELP offers in person homework help at the Camrose Boys and Girls Club in a friendly and safe environment. This may be a great option for you if you have chosen at home schooling and your child needs a little extra support with a specific subject or assignment, or if you just need a break.

  • Serves grades 1 to 8
  • No program fee
  • Runs Monday through Thursday, November through January, 10:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-3:00pm
  • Maximum 10 participants per time slot
  • By appointment only (must call ahead to book your sessions)
  • Complimentary snack provided

Mix It Up Mondays

MIX IT UP MONDAY offers a variety of social, recreational, educational and leadership programming throughout our program year.

  • Grades served will vary, ranging from grades 1 to 12. Will be specified in each activity specific descriptor.
  • A nominal program fee may apply for some sessions and will be identified in each activity specific descriptor.
  • Runs Mondays, October through May from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Sessions may range from one day (such as a fieldtrip) to several weeks (such as an 8 week cooking class).
  • Participant capacity may range from a maximum of 10 to 20 participants depending on the activity and will be identified in each activity specific descriptor.

 

MIX IT UP MONDAY activities currently being offered:

KID FOOD NATION is a national initiative that helps kids and families develop food skills through hands-on experiences related to planning, preparing, and cooking. The program also features an online hub with resources for healthy eating and meal preparation, and a national recipe competition that encourages kids to put their food literacy skills into practice and submit original, healthy, and nutritious recipes. Our Kid Food Nation online hub (kidfoodnation.com) was created by Corus Entertainment, and our program is developed through collaboration with Dieticians of Canada.

  • Serves ages 7 to 12
  • No program fee
  • This is an 8 week cooking program
  • Runs Mondays from 3:00 to 6:00 pm

o    October 19, 26, November 2, 9, 23, 30, December 7, 14

  • Space is limited to 12 participants
  • Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all 8 sessions
  • Participation consent required
  • Offers complimentary transportation from school to Club

Kinsmen Summer

The Kinsmen Summer program is for kids grades 1-5 and allows children travel throughout central Alberta taking in a variety of fun, meaningful and unique summer experiences that they may not otherwise have. This program offers themed weeks and daily trips that fit with the theme. Activities and events include but are not limited to: Edmonton Street Performers, Folk Fest, Ukrainian Cultural Village, horseback riding, corn maze, Fort Edmonton Park, Elk Island, Ellis Bird Farm, Jurassic Forest, Valley Zoo, WEM Water Park/Galaxy Land, Vertically Inclined, Discovery Canyon, Telus World of Science, Jump 360, etc.

Volunteer

We offer a variety of fun and rewarding volunteer opportunities starting with Grade 9 students through adulthood and senior years. Volunteer opportunities are available between October and May. CBGC volunteers contribute to an enhanced experience for the children and youth we serve. CBGC volunteers benefit from opportunities that promote personal development and growth, increased confidence and self worth, build experience, expand resumes, and provide a sense of belonging and  purpose.
